Welcome to this geothermal energy survey!
Thanks very much for participating in this survey.
My name is Tina Wegg and I am a BSc (Hons) Environmental Sciences student from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
I am currently studying for one semester at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.
I am conducting a research project on the development of Geothermal energy. You may have received my invitation to
complete this online survey via someone else. Your views are extremely important and I am very grateful for your participation!
The aim of the study is to see what people think about getting their energy from geothermal (heat from the ground) with a
specific focus on assessing opinions on the use of water and carbon dioxide (CO2) within the systems.
The survey is anonymous and you will not be identifiable from the information you supply.
The data collected will be analysed and used to inform my dissertation. The findings are of interest to the international geothermal research and development community,
including the
Centre of Excellence for Geothermal Research at the University of Queensland, Australia, who I would like to thank for their help with the preparation of this survey.
The survey shouldn't take long but it has been necessary for me to provide you with some introductory information about geothermal energy in order for you to consider your responses to the questions posed.
I have tried to keep it brief whilst giving you a balanced overview of the
possible advantages and disadvantages of using water and carbon dioxide in the system.
The information will be presented to you on the next few pages followed by a link to the survey questions.
The first page of questions ask for some brief details about yourself just for background demographical information (no personal contact details are asked for or collected)
and the second page contains the focussed survey questions.
The final page asks you some questions about your general environmental views in order to add depth to the final analysis of the data
and uses a recognised standard (based on the New Ecological Paradigm or 'NEP scale' first developed by Cattan and Dunlap in 1978).
Once again, many thanks for taking the time to participate in this research!
If you would like to see a copy of the completed survey results and final report, please contact me.
